GuideX ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how our Chrome extension and website collect, use, and safeguard your information.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Page Content Data (Extension)

When you use the GuideX extension to request step-by-step guidance, we temporarily read the following metadata from the current webpage:

• Interactive element metadata (tag names, text content, IDs, CSS classes, ARIA labels, placeholders)
• Current page URL and title

This data is sent to our AI backend solely to generate navigation instructions and is not stored permanently.

2.2 Authentication Data

If you choose to create an account or sign in, we collect:

• Email address
• Display name
• Firebase authentication token

2.3 Usage Data

We track the number of AI guidance actions used per day for rate-limiting purposes. This counter is stored locally in your browser's extension storage.

2.4 Payment Information

When you subscribe to a paid plan, payment processing is handled entirely by Razorpay, our third-party payment processor. We collect and store:

• Subscription ID and status
• Plan type and billing period
• Transaction reference IDs

We do NOT collect, store, or have access to your credit/debit card numbers, UPI PINs, net banking credentials, or any other sensitive payment information. All payment data is processed directly by Razorpay in accordance with PCI-DSS standards.

3. How We Use Your Information

• Generate AI-powered step-by-step guidance — page element data is processed to create navigation instructions
• Authenticate your account — to manage your subscription and usage limits
• Enforce usage limits — track daily action counts for free/guest users
• Process subscriptions — manage your plan, billing status, and subscription lifecycle
• Improve our service — aggregate, anonymized usage patterns may be analyzed
• Customer support — respond to your queries, refund requests, and feedback

4. Data We Do NOT Collect

• We do NOT collect your browsing history
• We do NOT collect personal data from the websites you visit
• We do NOT track your activity across websites
• We do NOT sell any data to third parties
• We do NOT collect or store credit/debit card numbers, CVV, or UPI PINs
• We do NOT use cookies for tracking purposes in the extension

5. Data Storage & Security

Authentication data is stored locally in your browser using Chrome's extension storage API ( chrome.storage.local). This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly interact with the extension.

Page element data sent to our AI backend is processed in real-time and is not stored in any database. We use industry-standard security measures to protect data in transit (HTTPS/TLS encryption).

User account data (profile, plan, usage) is stored in Google Firebase Firestore with server-side security rules. Data is encrypted at rest and in transit.

6. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Google Firebase — for user authentication and data storage
• Google Gemini AI — for generating step-by-step navigation instructions
• Razorpay — for secure payment processing and subscription management. Razorpay is a PCI-DSS Level 1 compliant payment gateway. Their privacy policy can be found at razorpay.com/privacy

7. Data Retention

We retain your data for the following periods:

• Account data: Until you request account deletion
• Usage data: Daily counters are reset each day; historical usage is not stored
• Payment records: Retained for 7 years as required by applicable tax and financial regulations
• Page content data: Not stored; processed in real-time only

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Sign out and remove your authentication data at any time
• Uninstall the extension to remove all locally stored data
• Request deletion of your account by visiting the Delete Account page or contacting us
• Access information about what data we store about you
• Request a copy of your personal data
• Opt out of marketing communications

9. Children's Privacy

GuideX is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe we have collected such information, please contact us.
